19 trained mentors for monitoring rural youth funded in the Ségou region

A refresher workshop for the Entrepreneurship Advisors of the Agency for the Promotion of Youth Employment on the tools of coaching/post support Youth funding of the project was held on Monday 29 June 2026 at the Ségou UCR. This is in the context of a partnership agreement between Project FIER II and the APEJ.

The overall objective of the workshop was to:

Present the FIERII project; Exhibit and share the youth support/coaching guide of the FIERII project for the nineteen (19) counsellors; Divide the nineteen (19) councillors between the villages of the business sites of the young beneficiaries; Make business plans for young people in the villages covered available to each adviser; Determine date of start of the accompaniment.

Expectations were expressed by participants at the end of the presentation of the objectives of the workshop, namely: Mastering of the guidance/coaching post-financing of the young people of the FIER II project, In-depth knowledge of the FIER II project, Recognizing the process of identifying young people of the FIERII scheme.

The various topics covered focused on the participatory approach, placing participants at the heart of learning through simulation, brainstorming and presentations. This method helped stakeholders understand the concepts and what the « Coaching ». They also learned about the process of accompanying young rural entrepreneurs from the development of action plans from start-up to sale through the various phases: setting up, production/operation, marketing and cost-sharing. The officers of the APEJ were also informed about the maintenance of the daily cash register (where all financial transactions are recorded each day), the inventory management table through the monitoring of the entry and exit of goods/resources, the customer tracking table and the repayment table of loans contracted with financial institutions.

At the end of the work, the following recommendations were made by the participants: To involve the APEJ in the identification of young people funded by FIER II, to use the APEJ database to identify new young people to be financed as part of the FIER II-APEJ synergy.
