From intentions to action: this is the meaning that the FIER II project wanted to give to the gender training session organized from 30 June to 2 July 2026 in Sikasso.
For three days, 36 participants from the deconcentrated technical services of the State, local authorities, agricultural professional organizations and associations of persons with disabilities from the Bougouni, Koutiala and Sikasso regions took part in the training. Objective: To share the Gender Strategy of the FIER II project and its implementation action plan.
The purpose of the capacity-building session was twofold: on the one hand, to provide participants with the strategic directions of the gender project; On the other hand, they should be better equipped to prevent cases of gender-based violence (GBV), sexual abuse and exploitation (AES) and sexual harassment (HS), while at the same time familiarizing them with the mechanisms of prevention and management of such cases.
As a reminder, the FIER II project set ambitious targets: 40% of women beneficiaries and 2% of the 60,000 rural youth affected by its interventions.
At the end of the three days of fruitful discussions, the participants left better prepared to:
- integrate the Project Gender Strategy into their field interventions;
- better prevention and identification of cases of VBG/AES/HS;
- contribute to the care and referral of victims to specialized structures.
