Funding of 452 rural youth from the Koulikoro region is launched in Kolokani.
Kolokani, 30 June 2026 Project FIER II has officially started financing economic projects in favour of 452 young people in the Koulikoro region. Organized by the Regional Coordination Unit, the ceremony was held in the court of Kolokani Prefecture, under the chairmanship of Madam Prefect, Ms. TOURE Fanta SAMAKE in the presence of 1st Vice-President of the Kulikoro Regional Council in this case Mr Diadjé CAMARA, local authorities, decentralised financial structures partners, technical services, OPs, young beneficiaries and the media.
This launch marks an important step in the process of the economic integration of rural youth in the Banamba, Kolokani and Kangaba. Following the updating of business plans, the implementation of Entrepreneurship training, and Techniques, beneficiaries now have access to the resources needed to start or strengthen their economic activities.
Following the successive interventions of the Representative of the District Chiefs and of thend Deputy Mayor of Kolokani, the Regional Coordinator of FIER II briefly presented the results of FIER before presenting Project FIER II. In the end, he thanked the authorities and invited all stakeholders to play their full roles so that the FIER II project could achieve the expected results.
In her speech, the Prefect welcomed the commitment of the Government of Mali, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the partners involved in the implementation of the project. It recalled that this funding does not constitute assistance, but rather assistance. investment in youth capacity to create wealth, generate jobs and contribute to the development of their communities.
Implemented with IFAD support, Project FIER II aims to consolidate the achievements of the first FIER project by promoting access for rural youth to appropriate financial and non-financial services. In the long run, it aims to reach about 60,000 rural youth aged 15 to 40at least 40% of young women and 22% of people with disabilities.
The ceremony also highlighted the essential role of decentralized financial structures, technical services and local and regional authorities in the follow-up of funded young people. The success of this initiative will depend as much on the quality of technical support as on the sound management of resources by the beneficiaries.
The symbolic delivery of cheques was the highlight of the day. It reflects the effective start of a new phase for these young people to turn their projects into viable businesses, generating income and sustainable jobs.
In Kolokani, the message is clear: with FIER II, training, inserting, financing and undertaking These are no longer mere slogans, but a concrete dynamic for rural youth and economic development in the Koulikoro region.
